A Challenge to Building Owners & Managers

The Buildings Without Barriers Challenge applications are now closed.

By participating in the Challenge, commercial property owners and managers will gain valuable information about their buildings and show their visitors, employees, and customers their commitment to creating accessible spaces for everyone, everywhere.

Improved accessibility benefits everyone – the 1 in 5 Canadians with a disability, their caregivers and friends, our aging population, parents with strollers – the list goes on! If people of all abilities can’t navigate your buildings to live, work, learn, or access goods and services, they’re unable to participate fully in our communities.

Build more sustainable spaces without costly retrofits. By committing to have at least 3 buildings rated using RHF Accessibility Certification, participants demonstrate leadership and commitment to a more accessible and inclusive future - and learn more about the true accessibility of their buildings in the process!

Participants in the Buildings without Barriers challenge will work with a designated RHFAC Professional to complete their accessibility ratings. As the global pandemic restricts travel between provinces, we've compiled a printable list of RHFAC Professionals available for ratings by province. Use this list to connect with an RHFAC Professional in your area.

  Digital assets to communicate your commitment
  Accessibility improvement tips via exclusive webinars and resources
  Acknowledgement at the BOMEX 2021 Awards Gala
  Labels/plaques and profiles on the online Registry (for sites achieving certification)

Key Dates

January 25, 2021 – Registration deadline. All entrants will receive 1 free pass to #APN2021 virtual conference (March 11 & 12, 2021)
February 26, 2021 – Challenge deadline to register sites in RHFAC Registry
June 30, 2021 – Deadline for RHFAC Professional to complete rating
Oct 20-21, 2021 – All participants acknowledged at BOMEX 2021 and awards presented to winners
